TextbookRequired Readings The textbook for this course is: Stewart O’Nan, ed., The Vietnam Reader: The Definitive Collection of Fiction and Nonfiction on the War (1998) This is an excellent collection of sources, and reading from this text will comprise much of the required reading for this course. Copies are available from John Smith’s Bookshop, and several copies are on Short-Term Loan in the University Library.
The reading list for this course gives a sense of the very many books about the Vietnam War available in the University Library. If you would like an additional textbook, to help you with background, context, factual material etc., any of the following are excellent, and may be ordered quickly through www.amazon.co.uk George C. Herring, America’s Longest War: The United States and Vietnam, 1950-1975 (4th edition, 2001) Stanley Karnow, Vietnam: A History (1997) George Donelson Moss, Vietnam: An American Ordeal (4th edition, 2001) |
