Skye Retreat - 1998
During September 1998, the Andrew Hook Centre invited several prominent scholars from the United States to an American Studies retreat on Skye. Professors Susan Branson (University of Texas, Dallas), Susan Klepp (Rider University), Roderick McDonald (Rider University), Michelle Maskielle (Montana State University), Leslie Patrick (Bucknell University), Billy Smith (Montana State University), and Christine Stansell (Princeton University) spent several days with Professor Andrew Hook and Dr Susan Castillo of Glasgow University, exchanging ideas about research and teaching American Studies. Further retreats, both for teaching staff and for postgraduate students, are planned for the future.
