Leicester Conference April 2003
On the 10 and 11 of April 2003, The School of Modern Languages at the University of Leicester hosted the IBDS conference supported by the French Embassy, the Centre for Quebec Studies at the University of Leicester and the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France. Speakers included Jan Baetens of the University of Leuven and academics from France, Belgium, Canada and Great Britain. Bande dessinée artists Jean-Christophe Menu, Fabrice Néaud and Tanitoc participated in a round table discussion about their work.
The conference focussed principally on the subject of autobiography in the bande dessinée but also included other contributions on more general themes associated with the medium.
