Adverbially Speaking
Many adverbs are made by adding -ly to the adjective. Thus:
- slow + ly
slowly - real + ly
really - unwise + ly
unwisely
If the adjective ends in -able or -ible, we drop the e, as in:
- possible - e + ly
possibly - horrible - e + ly
horribly - justifiable - e + ly
justifiably
The most important exceptions to these rules are:
- whole
wholly - true
truly - due
duly - subtle
subtly
