This section provides a brief survey of the essentials of Old English grammar. It makes no pretension to completeness, and further information about the structure of Old English will be given in the lectures. For further information, you should consult one of the books referred to in the reading list. The remainder of this section is divided into three parts: Orthography and Pronunciation, Syntax, and Paradigms. This division is for ease of subsequent reference, and it is not intended that you should read straight through each part in the order given here.
